The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to place the franchise tag on linebacker LaMarr Woodley.
This was the final year of Woodley’s rookie contract, a deal that he has certainly outperformed and then some.
He has become one of the team’s top defenders and most feared pass rushers, taking advantage of the attention focused on James Harrison.
Woodley is one of the team’s top blitzers, a major part of their defense and a terror for opposing quarterbacks. (Read More…)

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu was named the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year.
Polamalu won the award in a very close race, edging out Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews by just a couple of votes.
The safety didn’t have his best statistical season in 2010, but he made a number of big plays that changed the outcomes in games.
Polamalu is a fantastic player and had a very good year, but a number of other players were probably more deserving of the award. (Read More…)
